Conhecimento e reconhecimento<\/h3>\n

A agroecologia, que funciona em harmonia com os ecossistemas, permite que as fam\u00edlias de agricultores diversifiquem sua dieta, aumentem a seguran\u00e7a alimentar e vendam os excedentes no mercado local. Gra\u00e7as \u00e0 rede P\u00e2ntanos sem Fronteiras, agricultores individuais, cooperativas locais, hortas comunit\u00e1rias e hortas escolares em toda a Bacia do Rio da Prata est\u00e3o aprendendo a colocar a agroecologia em pr\u00e1tica. Eles est\u00e3o aprendendo t\u00e9cnicas e abordagens \u2013 desde o controle biol\u00f3gico de pragas at\u00e9 a apicultura, da horticultura comunit\u00e1ria org\u00e2nica at\u00e9 a silvicultura anal\u00f3gica \u2013 que melhoram a gest\u00e3o da \u00e1gua e do solo, protegem a biodiversidade e fortalecem a resili\u00eancia diante das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas.<\/p>\n

Nosso selo de origem para produtos agroecol\u00f3gicos<\/a> da zona \u00famida da Bacia do Rio da Prata est\u00e1 ajudando cerca de 200 produtores locais a aumentar o reconhecimento de seus produtos e seu potencial de comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o. O selo promove a conex\u00e3o e a identidade coletiva dos produtores agroecol\u00f3gicos da regi\u00e3o, ao mesmo tempo em que promove o conceito de agroecologia entre os consumidores.<\/p>\n

Mudan\u00e7a de pol\u00edtica<\/h3>\n

Nas \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, os governos da Bacia do Rio da Prata promoveram fortemente a produ\u00e7\u00e3o e a expans\u00e3o da agroind\u00fastria em grande escala voltada \u00e0 exporta\u00e7\u00e3o, principalmente soja e gado. A produ\u00e7\u00e3o intensiva de animais e culturas teve um impacto devastador no meio ambiente da Bacia do Rio da Prata.<\/p>\n

A rede Pantanal sem Fronteiras visa reverter essa tend\u00eancia, defendendo pol\u00edticas que apoiem a agroecologia. Nossas campanhas se concentram em aumentar a conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o e o reconhecimento da agroecologia como uma alternativa sustent\u00e1vel, eficaz e realista \u00e0 agricultura industrial. Com in\u00fameros exemplos concretos, estamos mostrando que a agroecologia \u00e9 uma pr\u00e1tica vi\u00e1vel e com futuro para a regi\u00e3o. Nosso trabalho resultou em um maior apoio pol\u00edtico \u00e0 agroecologia em muitos munic\u00edpios da regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

A rede P\u00e2ntanos sem Fronteiras tem como objetivo tornar a agroecologia o principal m\u00e9todo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de alimentos na Bacia do Rio da Prata. Estamos treinando e apoiando cada vez mais agricultores e produtores para que adotem pr\u00e1ticas agroecol\u00f3gicas. Estamos divulgando o selo de origem dos p\u00e2ntanos da Bacia do Rio da Prata para que seja amplamente reconhecido como certifica\u00e7\u00e3o de sustentabilidade e produ\u00e7\u00e3o local. Por meio da defesa de direitos, buscamos garantir a integra\u00e7\u00e3o da agroecologia nas pol\u00edticas oficiais em todos os n\u00edveis, do nacional ao local.<\/p>\n

We have succesfully advocated with local governments which resulted in 11 new policies which are in support of agroecological production<\/p>

Knowledge and recognition<\/h3>

Agroecology, which works in harmony with ecosystems, enables family farms to diversify their diet, increase food security and sell surplus products on the local market. Thanks to the Wetlands without Borders network, individual farmers, local cooperatives, communal gardens and school gardens throughout the La Plata Basin are learning how to put agroecology into practice. They are learning techniques and approaches \u2013 from biological pest control to bee-keeping, from organic community gardening to Analog Forestry \u2013 that improve water and soil management, protect biodiversity and strengthen resilience in the face of climate change.<\/p>

Our seal of origin for agroecological products from the La Plata Basin wetland is helping some 200 local producers increase recognition for their products and increase their marketing potential. The seal fosters connection and a collective identity of the region\u2019s agroecological producers farmers, while also promoting the concept of agroecology among consumers.<\/p>

Shifting policy<\/h3>

Over the last decades, the governments of the La Plata Basin have heavily promoted the production and expansion of large-scale export-oriented industrial agribusiness, mainly soy and cattle. The intensive production of animals and crops has had a devastating impact on the La Plata Basin environment.<\/p>

The Wetlands without Borders network aims to turn the tide by advocating for policies that support agroecology. Our campaigns focus on raising awareness and recognition of agroecology as a sustainable, effective and realistic alternative to industrial agriculture. With countless concrete examples, we are showing that agroecology is a viable and future-proof practice for the region. Our work has resulted in increased policy support for agroecology in many municipalities in the region.<\/p>

Growing the movement<\/h3>

The Wetlands without Borders network aims to make agroecology the main method of food production in the La Plata Basin. We are training and supporting more and more farmers and producers to adopt agroecological practices. We are spreading awareness about the La Plata Basin wetland seal of origin so it is widely recognised as certification of sustainability and local production. Through advocacy, we aim to ensure the integration of agroecology in official policies at all levels, from national to local.<\/p>
