They are learning techniques and approaches – from biological pest control to bee-keeping, from organic community gardening to Analog Forestry – that improve water and soil management, protect biodiversity and strengthen resilience in the face of climate change.

Our seal of origin for agroecological products from the La Plata Basin wetland is helping some 200 local producers increase recognition for their products and increase their marketing potential. The intensive production of animals and crops has had a devastating impact on the La Plata Basin environment.

The Wetlands without Borders network aims to turn the tide by advocating for policies that support agroecology. Our campaigns focus on raising awareness and recognition of agroecology as a sustainable, effective and realistic alternative to industrial agriculture. With countless concrete examples, we are showing that agroecology is a viable and future-proof practice for the region. Our work has resulted in increased policy support for agroecology in many municipalities in the region.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_2,1_2″ module_class=”images-row” _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”||||false|false” custom_padding=”0px||||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://humedalessinfronteras.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/5.png” title_text=”5″ _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Our network supports all kinds of different agroecological projects, from individual farmers to community gardens, producing medicinal herbs, yerba mate, fruits, vegetables and even a special wetlands honey

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://humedalessinfronteras.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/6.png” title_text=”6″ _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Thanks to the Wetlands without Borders network, producers are learning how to put agroecology into practice

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.2″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Growing the movement

The Wetlands without Borders network aims to make agroecology the main method of food production in the La Plata Basin.
